Waldo Homes–Award-Winning Custom Homes That Impress The Soul

Waldo Homes–Award-Winning Custom Homes That Impress The Soul

A Waldo Home is truly a masterpiece of style, design, elegance, and comfort. The most common first expression from visitors touring a Waldo model home is “Wow.” It’s called the “Waldo Wow Factor,” and it is the reflex reaction that comes from that overwhelming feeling you get when you are seeing something that impresses your soul. The talented Waldo Homes team includes founder Luis Waldo, his wife Teresa, their daughter Karen, and their son Danny and his wife, Allison.

The Waldo Homes team is not big, but they have one BIG thing in common—they share an amazing passion for building uniquely designed custom homes, from striking exteriors to richly detailed interiors. They create homes that are not only outstanding, but also truly stand out. And the company’s newest model home at Canton Village in Edinburg, Texas, did exactly that during the recent Parade of Homes competition. Waldo Homes was proud to have won not one, not two, but six awards for its model home, including: Best Model Home Over $400,000; Best Architectural Design; Best Kitchen; Best Master and Bath; Best Curb Appeal; and the grand prize—BEST OF SHOW!

LET’S TAKE A TOUR

The exterior of this two-story award winning home, with turrets, stucco walls, and Cantera and filigreed wrought iron accents, is strikingly Mediterranean.  A massive custom-created wrought iron and glass double front door welcomes guests and opens to an interior that follows through on the appealing Mediterranean theme.

Directly inside the front door, the eye is first drawn upward to a majestic two-story interior cupola with a stunning crystal chandelier and clerestory windows that bring natural light in.  The light is reflected downward onto sparkling cream colored porcelain tile flooring that extends throughout the home.

Past the open foyer and straight ahead into the main area of the home, a magnificent curved marble stairway is front and center. It ascends gracefully to an upper level wrought iron open balconied walkway. The stairway itself has an intricate custom-designed wrought iron balustrade topped with handcrafted engineered wood. Beyond the stairway is a soaring two-story living area. A fireplace surrounded by Cantera stone takes center stage as it rises up to the ceiling, and the ceiling is a unique octagonal coffered and tray design with an immense chandelier as a showpiece. The entire living area is awash in light from clerestory windows above, as well as generous eight foot sliding doors on the main floor that lead out to a private covered patio. An overall feeling of openness and airiness encompasses the entire living area.

The kitchen in this Waldo home is a chef’s dream. It is spacious, with state-of-the-art appliances to facilitate the cook—and the family.  There are double ovens, an immense side-by-side refrigerator, a gourmet gas burner stove with a pot filler on the back wall, a deep farmhouse sink, and a large center island with a separate sink for drinking water, as well as for hand washing and produce cleaning.  There is even a large walk-in Butler’s pantry with glass cupboards and open shelves. Any and all conveniences have been thoughtfully considered. Then, on top of all of these modern features, Waldo Homes adds beauty and elegance: dramatic exotic granite backsplashes and countertops, special rectified double layer porcelain flooring, and splashes of Cantera stone.  Even the ceiling is a showstopper with a magnificent modern brass chandelier hanging from the center of a coffered and tray design rotunda.

The Master Suite is on the main level of this lovely Waldo home and is a delightful private retreat. First noticed is the elaborate decorative ceiling, a Waldo trademark with a coffered and tray design and rotunda shape. The windows are covered in creamy white Plantation shutters; the flooring is a continuation of the sparkling porcelain tile. One of the extra special designs in this Master Suite, however, has to be the reading nook with a tall surprise: a two-story cupola with clerestory windows and a resplendent modern hanging glass globe.

Equally delightful in this Master area: a walk-in closet the size of a small bedroom, containing a multitude of open shelves and glass cupboards—along with yet one more Wow feature: another two-story cupola with clerestory windows and a gorgeous crystal waterfall chandelier!

The Master Bath itself is elegant and beautifully dramatic. An oval jetted tub sits front and center, and is surrounded by exotic granite and topped with a crystal chandelier; the bathroom also has an oversized hexagonal glassed-in shower with rainfall showerhead, His and Hers sinks, and a separate dressing table. This is a spa retreat of dreams that has been realized by
Waldo Homes.

Not to be outdone, the second floor of this magnificent home is equally impressive. There are three bedrooms, each is oversized and each has their own walk-in closet with built-ins. One bedroom, to reach it, even has its own mini stairway—perfect for a semblance of privacy for the little prince or princess of the house!

Finally, what more is needed in a house of dreams? How about a theater room? Well, the second floor of this Waldo home also has a theater room, complete with darkened walls, elevated flooring, and a bar area perfect for serving drinks and snacks while watching that newly released movie.
